Google Refocuses On Products

Google CEO Larry Page is refocusing his company towards its products. He also wants to implement a start-up philosophy. At present, the company’s employee number swelled up to over 28,000 across the world.

Larry Page founded the company together with Sergey Brin in 1998. He replaced Eric Schmidt as CEO in April that ends the triumvirate management structure that some analysts said is slowing down the company.

Google’s Chrome browser has 160 million users and 550,000 Android devices are being activated each day. Google earns its profits from searches from Android devices but it invests in a lot of products such as Google Wallet, Google Offers, Google Payments, and others.

Google started hiring high-quality engineering people and its first half attrition rate is its lowest ever. The company raised its employee’s salary by 10 percent. In the first three months of the year, at least 600,000 people have already applied for jobs in the company.

There are people questioning Google’s tax payments and the company said that it pays its taxes in every jurisdiction to the full extent of the law. Google’s effective tax rate in the second quarter of the year is 19 percent according to its recent earning report.

To my mind, it should have been done long time ago.
